The contract between NAT and a consortium comprising Siemens Mobility, Orascom Construction and The Arab Contractors will cover design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of the rail system for 15 years.
The first four-car Alstom INNOVIA 300 monorail train for the Cairo Monorail project has been completed on time at Alstom’s Derby, UK factory and is now bound for Cairo. The dispatch of the fully automated, driverless cars marks a major milestone in the project which will deliver Egypt’s first two monorail lines.
Mitsubishi will handle the supply and installation of signalling, power supply, telecommunications, platform screen doors, and automatic fare collection. Orascom will handle the project’s civil engineering work and construction of the train operation control centre, depot and workshop.
