Colas Rail wins Casablanca tramway contracts

French company Colas Rail has won two contracts as part of the construction project for the new lines T3 and T4 of the Casablanca tramway.

The first contract, worth €24m, involves the design, construction and commissioning of 25 km of overhead contact line, as well as the provision of power supply systems, with the installation of 21 substations.  

The second contract, worth €10m, involves the laying of 14 km of track and 11 switches and crossings on section 3 located in the city center for both tram lines.  

Line T3 will serve 20 stations over a length of 14 km, while line T4 will be 12.5 km long with 19 stations. Both lines are double-track.

In October 2020, CASA Transport SA, which operates the public transport network in Casablanca, Morocco, awarded Alstom a contract worth €130m to supply 66 Citadis X05 trams, with an option for 22 additional trams. The vehicles are expected to enter commercial service by the end of 2023 on the lines T3 and T4 which are currently under construction.
