TMH coaches for Egypt National Railways

TMH International delivers 22 passenger coaches to Egypt

TMH International has delivered 22 passenger coaches to the Egyptian National Railways (ENR), bringing to 35 the number of coaches delivered in August after 13 coaches were delivered on August 25. With the latest batch, TMH has fulfilled the average monthly delivery agreed upon in the contract.

The coaches were received at the Alexandria port in the presence of the Minister of Transport Kamel al-Wazir.

ENR has thus far received 68 coaches from TMH under a more than €1bn deal signed in 2018 to manufacture and supply 1,300 passenger coaches.

The monthly supply rate of 35 coaches enables the ENR to have three trains consisting of new locomotives and coaches entering service on a monthly basis. ENR has so far received 100 new diesel locomotives from GE Transportation under a US$ 575m deal signed in June 2017.

The deliveries are expected to raise daily operation efficiency and the regularity of operating schedules, especially at this time when ENR is implementing projects to modernize its railway infrastructure, including renewal of tracks and signalling systems, upgrading level crossings, and renovating stations and workshops.
